Would you forgive bigots who felt sorry for their behavior?

I try to get along with everyone at my workplace, because it's my source of livelihood. I am polite to everyone, even the jerks. But I also keep my privacy, I don't hang out with people from work - for the same reason. I don't want to get too close to anyone I work with, so there will be no fights. I just want to get along. Do my job and get paid. I keep my social life separate.
