Sorry if I sound ignorant, but what exactly is menopause?

It is the end of menstruation and then you can no longer get pregnant. Sorry yes it is all about the hormones all of them jumping all over the place. I am in it now and it can be rough. Just be supportive or go for lots of long walks. Hope her doctor helps her through it.
